Local smartphone manufacturer – Imose Mobile – has yet again silently introduced another device into the Nigerian smartphone market (as they did with the recently launched Imose X-II).
Looking at the sketchy spec sheet I found on Konga’s website, the Imose Ankara S3 seems like it’s a “nothing to write home about” device, but when you take a look at its price tag, the S3 is actually an “awesome” device.
Let’s quickly run through the specifications of the device.
Imose Ankara S3: Form Factor
Thanks to Imose’s appalling information network, I could not get the full tech specs of the Imose Ankara S3 from their website (is that even a website?). However, looking at the supposed pictures of the device across various online stores, I can see a thick box with large bezels.
The 4” display device has the native Android physical touch buttons (menu, home & back touch buttons) in front and at the back is where the phone’s loudspeaker is located – implying a tone-deaf device when seated on a flat surface.
Imose Ankara S3: Display
Aside from the fact that the display of the S3 is 4-inch (diagonal), I know nothing else of this phone’s display. Specs like the phone’s resolution, display type, and protection were missing from the specs I could find online.
Imose Ankara S3: Camera
The Imose S3 has a 3MP shooter (with flash) at the back and a 1.3MP selfie camera. Details of the sensor used for the device, its shooting, and recording power are unknown to me at the moment.

Imagine, the most important feature on a smartphone is a ghost on the phone’s spec sheet. 🙁
Imose Ankara S3: Memory
The internal memory of this device is 4GB and support for an SD card is also provided. Although I cannot confirm the card limit, I think it should be 32GB. For multitasking, the device packs 1GB RAM which is actually impressive, considering the fact that most of the other devices in its price range pack half of that.
Imose Ankara S3: Battery
The battery capacity of the device is 1800mAh. With the features of this device and its display size, I believe the battery should be able to hold one for a full day on full charge. Also, when buying the S3 (from Konga or Jumia), you get a 3000mAh Imose power bank for free.
Imose Ankara S3: Price
The pricing is the most interesting part of this device to me. I am still wondering how Imose intends to make profit by selling a 1GB RAM Android powered smartphone for less than $40! If they do break even, it’ll be genius!
