An Overview of The Device

The Infinix Hot S is a 4G enabled dual SIM smartphone, albeit hybrid, which runs on the version 6 of Android (Marshmallow) laced with Infinix’s custom user interface (XOS) out of the box.

The kini is a sturdily built metal device which features a 5.2-inch IPS display having a resolution of 720 x 1280 px and hence a pixel density of about 282 PPI.

Performance, Hardware, Cameras

Under its hood sits an octa-core MediaTek chipset clocked at 1.5GHz and an accompanying Mali-T720 GPU for pushing graphics. Alongside those is 2 gigabytes of RAM (3 if you’re buying the ‘pro’ version) for multitasking and ensuring you have a lag-free experience on the device.

Storage-wise, you’re gonna have to make do with the 16GB of space that ships with the device. That would not suffice? Well, you can throw in a microSD card (up to 128 GB) to expand the space, but just know that you’d have to sacrifice one of your SIM slots to accommodate the card.

Supplying power to the device is a 3000 mAh Li-Po battery which is non-removable by the way, and thanks to the device’s lack of the type C connector, you’d have to rely on a microUSB 2.0 cord to juice to the device at a peak input of about 2V.

Behind the device sits a fingerprint sensor which, apart from securing your device, can be used to also take pictures and be configured to receive phone calls upon touch.

Infinix Hot S Back

A somewhat important highlight of this device is its camera. The front facing lens is an 8 MP shooter having its own LED flash light and at the back is the primary camera of the device. This camera is a 13 MP lens accompanied by a dual-LED flash light beneath it for providing illumination in low-lit environments.

At the moment, the Infinix Hot S can be picked up both online and offline for well under N45,000 depending on your location in the country and also depending on whether you pick the 2GB RAM variant or the 3GB RAM variant.

Buy or Bye?

For an ‘under-50’ device, the Hot S should be good enough for most people. However, if you are someone who is keen on getting a cheap Android smartphone with a really good camera, you definitely shouldn’t pass up on buying the Hot S … that is, of course, if you can live with the hybrid SIM slots.
